Our Contributions

GVAD is proud to support local organizations and individuals that work towards self-improvement and the betterment of the Deaf community in the Greater Vancouver area. Therefore, GVAD has made the following contributions:

• 1st Annual GVAD Student Scholarship Award of $500 to Lynne Fantham, a student at the BC School for the Deaf
• $1,600 to the Happy Hands Club to cater their Christmas dinner
• provided discounts for GVAD members for the Deaf Culture Centre Variety Show
• $500 to the Deaf-Blind Club
• $2,500 to the Deaf Canada Conference 2010 for workshops on Youth issues
• provided volunteers and financial assistance towards “RAD is Back”, a fundraiser supporting Deaf and hard of hearing people impacted by HIV/AIDS
• subsidized workshops costs so that fees were lowered for GVAD members
• defrayed the interpreter’s fees for workshops
• GVAD members have also volunteered on a variety of committees and in support roles in other organizations and events
